Verstappen Wins Canadian Grand Prix
Russell leads off, but Verstappen overtakes for third win
Red Bull's Max Verstappen won the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, his third successive triumph in Montreal, after the three-time world champion led from start to finish in a race that started wet but dried out midway through.
Verstappen's victory was his sixth of the season and moves him 46 points clear of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the drivers' championship standings. Leclerc finished second on Sunday, with teammate Carlos Sainz completing the podium.
The race started in wet conditions, with Mercedes' George Russell taking the lead from pole position. However, Verstappen quickly overtook Russell on the opening lap and never looked back.
The race was briefly interrupted by a red flag on lap 20 after a crash involving Nicholas Latifi and Zhou Guanyu. The race was restarted behind the safety car, with Verstappen still in the lead.
